1.      The meeting began at 1:05 pm.

2.      Awarding Georgia Tech course credits for  the International Baccalaureate

Reta led a discussion on the assignment of credits for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.   Reta indicated that she planned to develop a detailed IB credit table (similar to that used to show credits for Advanced Placement courses) that lists all of the IB courses and the credits awarded for achieving specific IB assessment values.

Reta also presented a table that provides the overall form of the suggested Institute policy on IB credits for IB Diploma completers.  The suggested policy is consistent with the Board of Regents (BOR) policy, which allows for some discretion, at the Institute level, in choosing the number of credits to assign for given IB assessment values, within ranges defined by the BOR.   In light of the lack of a quorum, it was decided to submit the proposed policy to e_mail vote subsequent to the meeting.

3.      Upcoming issues for the SRC

Reta briefly mentioned coming issues regarding the use of the Incomplete grade and regarding Re-exams.

4.   The meeting adjourned at 1:40pm.

Addendum:   An e_mail vote was conducted between 9/24/2008 and 9/30/2008 on the proposed Georgia Tech IB credit policy for IB Diploma holders (see below).  Eight voting members participated in the e_mail vote[1] The SRC voted unanimously to approve the proposed policy.
