Student Regulations Committee

2001-2002 Annual Report



The members of the Committee were: D. Allen (ARCH, Ex. Board Liason); E.K. Barefield (CHEM); L. Barajas (G. Student), P. Benkeser (BME), Chair; R. Barke (PUBPOL); L. Jacobs (CEE); A. Larson (ME); E.W. Looney (UG Student); J. McIver (Registrar); N. Watson (UG Student); B. Walker (LIB); and L. Wilcox (Student Affairs).


The Committee’s agenda for the year included the following topics:


  1. Modification of the change of major policy in the Rules and Regulations.
  2. Change in the minimum GPA requirements.
  3. Revision of the Student Bill of Rights.
  4. Review of proposed "Policy on Religious Observances".
  5. Interpretation of first paragraph of Section XXI. Student Academic Grievance Procedures.
  6. Review of proposed statutes change that would affect the Student Regulations Committee.
  7. Review of proposed changes/additions to the Academic Honor Code and Student Code of Conduct from the Office of the Dean of Students.


Agenda items 1, 2, and 3 led to action items that were approved by the Academic Senate at its December 4, 2001 meeting.  Agenda items 4 and 7 will lead to action items for the 2002-2003 Academic Senate.
