Re:       Report of the Student Grievance and Appeal Committee activities during the 2006-2007 academic year

The Student Grievance and Appeal Committee (SGAC) considered 15 cases brought before the committee in 2006-07.

This is an increase by five in the number of cases considered during the 2005-06 academic year.

The 15 cases considered were in the following categories:

Academic misconduct:                          9

Nonacademic misconduct:                    3

Grade appeals:                                     3

The disposition of these cases was:

Appeal denied:                                     7

Request for hearing denied:                   2

Appeal granted:                                    2

Appeal considered, reduced

      sanction recommended:                   3

Granted request for new hearing:           1

In addition, the SGAC solicited five volunteers to serve as outside members on six separate unit-level grade appeal committees (one volunteer served twice).
