Subject: Report of Academic year 2002-2003 activities for the Student Grievance and Appeal Committee

Dear Said:

The Student Grievance and Appeal Committee (SGAC) considered nine cases brought before it in 2002-2003. This equals the SGAC’s case load of the previous year.

One of the cases appealed to the SGAC involved non-academic misconduct. The appeal was found to be with merit, and we recommended that it be granted.

Six of the cases appealed to the SGAC involved academic misconduct. In each case, the appeals were found to be without merit; we recommended denial in each case.

The final two cases appealed to the SGAC involved a) an appeal of a final course grade, and b) an appeal of the academic misconduct sanction applied by the Honors Council. Both cases were found to be without merit, and we recommended denial of each appeal.

Sincerely,

Dr. David J. Shook

Chair, Student Grievance and Appeal Committee
