MINUTES OF THE GRADUATE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE

Visitors: Kilroy (GS&R)

  1. A motion was made to direct the sub-committee to routinely waive the residency requirement for GTRI employees unless circumstances dictate otherwise. Motion seconded and approved. Unanimous.
  2. The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering requested the following new course. Motion was made to approve course. Motion seconded and approved. Unanimous.

New Course

CEE/ME 7751 Computational Fluid Mechanics 3-0-3

CEE 6292 and ME 7601 should be made inactive Spring 2001

  1. The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering requested the following course. Motion was made to approve course. Motion seconded and approved. Unanimous

New Course

CEE 6651 Infrastructure Systems Management 3-0-3

  1. CEE requested that CEE 6636 be changed from 2-3-3 to 3-0-3. Since the course has not been offered a motion was made to approve the change. Motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous
  2. The Dupree College of Management requested a title change for the following cross-listed courses:

BMED/ME/CHE/MGT 6789 from Technology Transfer in Bioengineering to TECHNOLOGY VENTURES.

A motion was made to approve change. Motion seconded and approved. Unanimous

  1. The Dupree College of Management requested the approval of the CERTIFICATE IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP. This is a conversion form quarter to semester. A motion was made to approve the request. Motion seconded and approved. Unanimous
  2. The Dupree College of Management requested the approval of the CERTIFICATE IN ENGINEERING ENTREPRENEURSHIP. This is a conversion from quarter to semester. A motion was made to approve the request. Motion seconded and approved. Unanimous
  3. Thirteen student petitions were reviewed by the committee, all were approved unless noted:

One-to waive residency requirement

One-to delete a course and add a course (denied)

One- to use all graduate work taken as special student towards PHD

Three-to use courses taken for graduate degree

Two-to withdraw past deadline (1 denied)

One-to substitute ISYE course for MGT course

One-to use doctoral thesis as master thesis

One-to waive seven year rule

One-to graduate with present GPA based on requirements for quarter system
