  1. The School of Materials Science & Engineering requested the following changes to the curriculum for BS in Materials Science and Engineering. A motion was made to approve the changes. Motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

 Replace the AE/ME 2751(Introduction to Mechanics) with AE 2120 Introduction to Mechanics or ME 2211 (Statics/Deformable Bodies).

Allow students who enter the MSE program after their third semester in residence at Tech to substitute a one hour technical course in lieu of MSE 1001, Introduction to Engineering.

  1. The School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences requested the approval of a Business Option for the BS in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. A Motion was made to approve the request. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

Courses required for the Business Option:

MGT 3000 Accounting for Decision Making

MGT 3300 Marketing Management I

ECON 2106 Principles of Microeconomics (social science elective)

PSYC 2220 Industrial/Organizational Psychology (social science elective)

MGT 3150 Principles of Management or Management capstone course

6 hours of these management courses apply toward the Technical Electives.

  1. The School of Mathematics requested the approval of Business Options for the BS in Mathematics and BS in Discrete Mathematics degrees. A motion was made to approve the request. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

Courses required for the Business Option:

ECON 2106 Principles of Microeconomics (social science elective)

MGT 3000 Accounting for Decision Making

  1. The College of Architecture requested the approval of the following courses. A motion was made to approve the courses. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

ID 3103 Industrial Design Computing I (1-6-3)

ID 3104 Industrial Design Computing II (1-6-3)

These courses replace ID 3101 and ID 3102, respectively.

  1. The School f Chemistry & Biochemistry requested the approval of the following course. A motion was made to approve the request. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

CHEM 1315 Survey of Organic Chemistry (3-0-3)

  1. The School of Psychology requested a revision in the requirements for the BS in Psychology degree. The total number of hours for the degree remains the same. A motion was made to approve curriculum and course changes, as detailed below. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

Changes in curriculum requirements:

Delete PSYC 2220, 2240, 3010, 3015, 3030, 3035, 3040, 3045, 4010, 4015, 4030, 4035, and 4050. (29 credit hours)

Add PSYC 3011, 3031, and either 4031 or 4501. (12 credit hours)

Add 6 hours of social sciences electives

Add 11 hours of free electives

Change PSYC Electives (12 hours) from 3xxx to approved list.

  1. The College of Computing requested the approval of the following curriculum change for the BS in Computer Science degree. There is no change in the total degree hours.
