Note: All action items in these minutes require approval by the Academic Senate.  In some instances, items may require further approval by the Board of Regents or the University System of Georgia.  If the Regents' approval is required, the change is not official until notification is received from the Board to that effect. Academic units should take no action on these items until USG and/or BOR approval is secured.  In addition, units should take no action on any of the items below until these minutes have been approved by the Academic Senate or the Executive Board.

Academic Matters

1.           A motion was made to approve a request from the College of Computer Science a degree modification.  The motion was seconded and approved.

Degree Modification:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
Modify People Thread

·   Add a new mandatory “pick” course choice group “User Support Technology” to the People Thread.

·   Reduce the number of free elective hours for each People Thread combination by 3 credit hours.

·   Total hours for the BSCS degree remain the same.

 

2.           A motion was made to approve a request from the College of Architecture to modify an existing minor and create two new minors.   The motion was seconded and approved.

 

All Music minors must accrue 15 hours in MUSI courses in a plan approved by the Music Minor Coordinator.

 

New minors:

   Music Technology – 15 Hours Total

·         Written application required – no formal audition

·         MUSI 2010 Fundamentals of Musicianship I – 3 Cr Hrs

·         MUSI 2011 Fundamentals of Musicianship II – 3 Cr Hrs

·         9 credit hours of Music Technology as approved by the Music Minor Coordinator

(MUSI 3500, 4450, 4455, 4630, 4650, 4670)

 

   Music Performance – 15 Hours Total

·         Written application and formal audition required

·         MUSI 2010 Fundamentals of Musicianship I – 3 Cr Hrs

·         MUSI 2011 Fundamentals of Musicianship II – 3 Cr Hrs

·         3 credit hours of Individual Private Lessons

(MUSI 3710, 3720, and 3730)

·         4 credit hours of Major Ensemble Performance at the 3000/4000 level

(Courses to be drawn from Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble, or Glee Club)

·         2 credit hours of Chamber Ensemble

(MUSI 3401, 3402, 3403, 4401, 4402, 4403)

decided by the Registrar under the authority granted to her by the Committee. All
