Note: All action items in these minutes require approval by the Academic Senate.  In some instances, items may require further approval by the Board of Regents or the University System of Georgia.  If the Regents' approval is required, the change is not official until notification is received from the Board to that effect. Items that are marked below with an asterisk (*) require USG and/or BOR approval and are not official until approval has been received. Academic units should take no action on these items until USG and/or BOR approval is secured.  In addition, units should take no action on any of the items below until these minutes have been approved by the Academic Senate or the Executive Board.

  1. There were no Minutes to be approved. Discussion of the program review process at the last meeting will be documented for the next meeting.
  2. Administrative Items:  Participation of Aerospace Engineering in the MS and PhD degree programs in Computational Science and Engineering was acknowledged. BME is acknowledged as a participant as is Biology (pending receipt of the signed letter by the Registrar’s Office).
  3. A motion was made to approve Subcommittee recommendations on petitions in the following areas. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

  1. A motion was made to approve a request from the College of Management to substitute MGT 6600 for MGT 6122 for the MBA program. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.*
  2. A motion was made to approve a request from the College of Management to reduce the number of hours for the dual degree, Technology Leadership Program, from 40 to 39. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.*
  3. A motion was made to approve a request from the School of Public Policy for a new course.  The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

      NEW COURSE

      PUBP 6502 Information and Communications Technology Policy 3-0-3

      Note: Course proposal form corrected to show 3 credit hours and approval for all grading options. Proposal also assumes deactivation of PUBP 4512 and PUBP   6513 believed to have been deactivated already.  The Registrar will confirm this.

  1. A motion was made to approve a request from the College of Computing and the College of Engineering for a new Ph.D. program in Robotics and new courses. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

  1. A motion was made to approve a request from the School of Biomedical Engineering for new course.  The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

      NEW COURSE

      BMED 6210 Magnetic Resonance Imaging 3-0-3

      Note: Course proposal form corrected to indicate 3 hours of lecture and  prerequisites corrected to state “BMED 4750 and completion of one of the following,: BMED 6786 or consultation with instructor”.

  1. A motion was made to table a request from the College of Computing for a new course. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.
