Institute Graduate Curriculum Committee

October 26, 2006

 

PRESENT: Martins (MGT), Bechtel (NRE), Green (MATH), Smith (AE), Davis (PSYCH), Peponis (COA), Babensee (BME), Pikowsky (REGISTRAR)

 

VISITORS: Bradd (REGISTRAR), Bommarius (ChBE)


1. The Chair noted that Minutes from the last meeting were approved electronically and were accepted by the Senate.

2. A motion was made to approve the appeal of a student who wishes to double count courses he earned as an undergraduate toward his MS degree as a part of the graduate course option. The motion was seconded and approved on the condition that he finish his MSECE degree by the end of the Fall 2007 Semester.

3. A motion was made to approve the recommendations from the Petitions Subcommittee for petitions in the following areas.  The motion was seconded and approved.

3. A motion was made to approve a request from the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering for a new course. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

 

            NEW COURSE

 

            CHBE/CHEM 6760: Biocatalysis and Metabolic Engineering  3-0-3

4. A motion was made to approve in principle a request from Management to reduce the number of required elective hours in the MBA program from 31 to 24, resulting in a reduction of total hours from 61 to 54.  The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

 

This request will be circulated and brought up for a formal vote at the next meeting.
