The committee discussed the many nominations in each category and came to consensus concerning the awards.  The following individuals were selected to receive the awards indicated at the April faculty/staff honors luncheon:

 

OUTSTANDING TEACHERS ($10,000 each)

Class of 1940 Howard Ector award: Katharine Seley, Chemistry

Class of 1040 W. Roane Beard award: Barbara Blackbourn Jansma, Modern Languages

 

OUSTANDING SERVICE ($5,000 to be shared)

Richard Duke, Mathematics

Edward Thomas, Physics

 

OUTSTANDING CONTINUING EDUCATION ($2,000--from Dept of Continuing Education)

Saki Meliopoulos, Electrical and Computing Engineering

 

OUTSTANDING INTERDISCIPLINARY ACTIVITIES  ($7,500)

Charles Ume, Mechanical Engineering

 

OUTSTANDING INNOVATIVE USE OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY ($7,500)
