Bettina Cothran: Update on Childcare
For a number of years, there has been a need for a 2nd childcare center at GT. As of the last FBC meeting in May, the Institute’s desire was to get a 2nd childcare center without contracting out to another entity.
This continues to be an important issue and the FBC will keep it on the agenda for the next fiscal year.
Action Item—Bettina Cothran will draft a letter to the provost emphasizing the need for a 2nd childcare center.
Action Item—Dave Millard will update the executive board.
Bettina Cothran: Day Camps
To help with the childcare need, day camps (known as Tech Wreck Break Camps) have been established for 1st through 8th grade children for 7 days during the 2011-2012 fiscal year. The day camps are designed to assist faculty/staff and student parents with childcare for school holidays which do not coincide with GT holidays.
The camp fee is $40 per day. More information and registration can be found at http://www.crc.gatech.edu/hlp/plugins/content/index.php?id=1
Action Item—Further updates on the day camp program will be provided as they become available.
Director of Benefits update: Bettina Cothran & Teresa Snow
Following a search which took place in late spring, Darlene Wright was hired as the new Director of Benefits. She has just recently started her position. Ms. Wright comes to GT from the pharmaceutical industry where she served as a benefits executive.
Action Item—The new director will be invited to attend the next FBC meeting.
