9:00AM, Van Leer Room 225

WSC Members Present: Lionel Lemarchand (ModL), Gail Palmer (ECE), Frank Lambert (ECE), Chair, Mary Ann Ingram (ECE), Tom Akins (DOPP), and Barbara Henry (Executive Board)

Staff Present: Bob Furniss, Director Parking & Transportation and Teresa Crocker, Director of Security & Police

1.      The Minutes of our November 10, 2003 were approved as submitted.

2.      There has not yet been any progress on forming the Campus-wide Committee to address the issue of “Motorized Carts on Campus”.

3.      Chief Crocker provided a review of crime statistics on campus.  Georgia Tech is ranked in the top 20 colleges on crime during 2002 (of all those reporting in the US).  We discussed the need to raise the crime awareness level of incoming graduate students.  GT Police would like to have all of them attend a one hour crime orientation session.  The committee agreed to investigate possible ways to accomplish this.

4.      Chief Crocker will bring the map of Emergency Call Box locations to our next meeting.  The Parents Association is considering a grant of $25,000 which may be used to add approximately eight new call boxes.

5.      The second draft of the Parking and Transportation Facts and Issues document was presented and discussed.  Bob Furniss will send out a new revision for any additional comments or changes.  We plan to finalize the document at our next meeting and e-mail it to the faculty.

6.      Our next meeting will be held on Friday, January 9th, at 9:00AM.
